18Israeli strike on Hamas negotiators in Doha, Qatar
- The negotiators were bombed while reading the ceasefire proposal.
- Six dead in a third country's capital — including an officer of a US ally hosting America's largest regional base.
- The Security Council condemned it; Netanyahu claimed “full responsibility,” then expressed regret.
On 9 September 2025, the Israeli military struck a residential compound in Doha, Qatar, where Hamas negotiators were meeting to discuss a US-backed ceasefire proposal, killing six people — five Hamas members, including chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya's son Humam and office director Jihad Labad, plus Qatari Internal Security Force officer Badr al-Dosari — while the senior negotiators survived, according to Hamas and Qatari officials. Netanyahu's office called it "a wholly independent Israeli operation" for which "Israel takes full responsibility"; the UN Security Council condemned the strike, Qatar's prime minister denounced it as state terrorism, and on 29 September 2025 Netanyahu expressed regret to Qatar's prime minister in a call from the White House.
