The 2025 documentary "Gaza: Doctors Under Attack" — originally commissioned by the BBC under the title "Gaza: Medics Under Fire" and broadcast by Channel 4 in July 2025 after the BBC dropped it — presents testimony from Palestinian health workers about Israeli military attacks on Gaza's hospitals and the killing, detention, and alleged torture of medical staff. According to Physicians for Human Rights–Israel, around 250 health workers have been taken from Gaza into Israeli detention since October 2023 and at least six have died in custody, including Al-Shifa surgeon Dr. Adnan al-Bursh, who died in Ofer prison in April 2024, while Kamal Adwan Hospital director Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya remains held without charge.
